• “I, being in the Bastille, said to Thee, O my God, If thou art pleased to render me a spectacle to men and angels, thy holy will be done! All I ask is that thou wilt be with and save those who love thee.” – Madame Guyon

God hath not promised skies always blue by Annie Johnson Flint

  • God hath not promised skies always blue,
    Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
    God hath not promised sun without rain,
    Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
  • But God hath promised strength for the day,
    Rest for the labor, light for the way,
    Grace for the trials, help from above,
    Unfailing sympathy, undying love.
  • God hath not promised we shall not know
    Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
    He hath not told us we shall not bear
    Many a burden, many a care.
  • God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
    Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
    Never a mountain, rocky and steep,
    Never a river, turbid and deep.

    Dr. David Jeremiah the Bible Teacher in the U.S. mentioned Amy Johnson in his message online today. Just reminded me of her in years past and have been blessed by listening and reading this poem again. Will pass it on to a Christian friend who is experiencing a setback in her health at this stage. She is due to have a hip replacement next month but it may not occur due to finding she has a heart murmur. God has given her the gift of encouraging people in the Lord and I am sure this poem would encourage her also. I'm glad I found your website. Blessings

    This is a wonderful and inspiring poem. I was looking at flint websites and just happened to come across this site by accident. But God makes no mistakes! I too am inspired to write but mostly I am a gospel songwriter. It would be nice to talk feel free to call me perhaps we can meet somewhere. God bless keep up the poems to honor Jesus.

  • “In case any are puzzled by the different translations from which I draw strength and help and delight, it is like this: In studying any object with the microscope we use different lenses and turn the mirror in various ways; each change brings out some new wonder and beauty. So it is for those who are not Greek or Hebrew scholars, and who use the work of scholars to open the meaning of the exhaustible Word–the Bible is richer than any single version can fully show.” – Amy Carmichael

Verse of the Day

[The Whole Armor of God] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. — Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV)
