• “How different the world would look, how different the state of our nation would be, if there were more sanctified priestly souls! These are souls who have the power to bless, for they intercede with sanctified hearts. They never begin their daily time of intercessory prayer without having first brought to the cross all that is unholy in their lives, so that their old self can be crucified there with Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb.” – Basilea Schlink

How Men See Me – God Calling 06/06

I came to help a world.  And according to the varying needs of each so does each man see Me.

It is not necessary that you see Me as others see Me – the world, even the Church, My disciples, My followers, but it is necessary that you see Me, each of you, as supplying all that you personally need.

The weak need My Strength.  The strong need My Tenderness.  The tempted and fallen need My Salvation.  The righteous need My Pity for sinners. The lonely need a Friend.  The fighters need a Leader.

No man could be all these to men – only a God could be.  In each of these relations of Mine to man you must see the God.  The God-Friend, the God-Leader, the God-Savior.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:29

This is so good. Just read Elisabeth Elliot's book, A Path Through Suffering, and saw this quote that she calls the "beattitude of the trusting" -- "blessed are they who do not get offended because of Me." He comes to us in so many ways, and our human side always pulls toward making Him into a formula or a law. But (to quote Rich Mullins) God is a wild Man. He is much more than we can explain or understand, even in all our enlightened words and thoughts. So helpful to remember that just because He comes differently to others, doesn't make it *wrong*. Let Him be God. And us? We're all just walking each other Home.

  • “I henceforth take Jesus Christ to be mine. I promise to receive Him as a husband to me. And I give myself to Him, unworthy though I am, to be His spouse. I ask of Him, in this marriage of spirit with spirit, that I may be of the same mind with Him — meek, pure, nothing in myself, and united in God’s will. And, pledged as I am to be His, I accept as part of my marriage portion, the temptations and sorrows, the crosses and the contempt which fell to Him. — Jeanne M.B. de la Mothe Guyon, Sealed with her ring.”

Verse of the Day

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: — Psalm 95:6-7 (NKJV)
