Don't forget A Passion for the Impossible by Miriam Huffman Rockness -- the bio of Lilias Trotter. Love this website... thank you for your ministry!

Yes sister, I love that one too. These are mostly short biogaphies though that I can put on the website. Unfortunately, A Passion for the Impossible is under copyright. Thanks for your enthusiasm and input on the topic. :)

Please, bios of more obscure Christian women writers of 19th century. Such as poetesses Laura Anna Barter Snow("The Joyous Servant") and Mary Butterfield. Would also know more about Ella Wheeler Wilcox (there is a website) and Hannah Whitall Smith (Wesleyan Holiness). Can you recommend reference books on this subject? Thank you. Edwin Sherrard

This is an updated comment to my 2015 comment about my first-hand encounter with Dr. Pauline G. Hamilton in 1983 at Park Street Church in Boston. At the same missions conference I bought her autobiography, To a Different Drum. At that time I was single and struggling as a single. Recently I reread the autobiography and was astounded by a scripture reference on p. 308 referring to Zeph 3:17 "He is silently planning for you in love." The reason for my astonishment: ten years later after enduring years of frustration over my singleness, I fell in love with a godly, beautiful, kind woman living in Egypt while I was living in Northern Virginia. We were put in touch with one another by mutual Christian friends of our families. Six months after beginning our long distance relationship I went to Cairo to meet Lydia with the intention of proposing to her. When I first visited her family's apartment, I saw a plaque reading, "I am silently planning for you in love." In Dec 2019 Lydia and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary. The Lord has blessed us with two wonderful daughters. Being reminded by this scripture of the Lord's sovereignty and perfect plan for my life has made Deut 31:8 come alive to me: "For the Lord Himself will go before you, He will be with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."

Verse of the Day

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant. My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. — Psalm 25:14-15 (NKJV)
