• “I, being in the Bastille, said to Thee, O my God, If thou art pleased to render me a spectacle to men and angels, thy holy will be done! All I ask is that thou wilt be with and save those who love thee.” – Madame Guyon

Prayers Ancient and Modern 12/11

O God, the Creator of both summer and winter, who causest light to shine out of the thick gloom, and bringest good out of evil; give us grace so to flee what Thou for Thou knowest our frame, Thou rememberest that we are dust. Be Thou our Strength and Deliverer; in our great need be Thou our Helper; pour Thy consolations into our hearts, and let the gospel of Thy beloved Son minister comfort and peace to our souls—Amen.

Henry W. Foote.

O God Almighty, who to them that have no might increasest strength, strengthen us to do and suffer Thy good will and pleasure; through Jesus Christ—Amen.

Christina G. Rossetti.

  • “In all places and at all times, we can have that familiar friendship, we can have Him with us; and there may be through the day a constant interchange of private words, of little offerings, too small to have any name attached to them—by which the bonds of that familiar friendship grow closer and more real, until it comes to that special personal intimacy, which we call sanctity.” – Janet Erskine Stuart, 1857-1914
