Prayers Ancient and Modern 04/18

O Lord, I give myself to Thee, I trust Thee wholly. Thou art wiser than I—more loving to me than I myself. Deign to fulfil Thy high purposes in me whatever they be—work in and through me. 1 am born to serve Thee, to be Thine, to be Thy instrument. Let me be Thy blind instrument. I ask not to see—I ask not to know—I ask simply to be used— Amen.

John Henry Newman

Protect, O Lord, thy suppliants, support their weakness, and wash away their earthly stains ; and while they walk amid the darkness of this mortal life, do Thou ever quicken them by Thy light; deliver them in Thy mercy from all evils, and grant them to attain the height of good: through Jesus Christ our Lord—Amen.

Protect, O Lord...support her weakness, and wash away her earthly stains; and while she walks amid the darkness of this mortal life, do Thou ever quicken her by Thy light; deliver her in Thy mercy from all evils, and grant her to attain the height of good; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen. Personalizing this prayer to lift for others...I think this would be well-pleasing unto the Lord...what blessings may come if we prayed like this intentionally for one another. I'm praying for you, Michelle, and am so thankful for your faithfulness. In His grace, Lisa

Thank you Sister! I could certainly use yours and others prayers. I am in a unique time of my life, where guidance is unclear and what I once knew has changed and is changing me. He is a God of many people. Last night at, Church at Ellerslie we talked about "specific" prayer for ourselves and one another. Specific prayers so that we receive specific answers and our faith is built up. George Muller had 50,000 answered prayers recorded for him to bank his faith on. Such a blessing to be disciplined enough to pray so specfically and record it down to receive in rememberance always. I love this prayer devotional book and how these people wrote down their prayers for rememberance. Praying for you as well Sis. Lisa. May the Lord grant you, your heart's desire whatever that may be. Michelle

It is a marvelous thing to be being changed by the work of God in your life, but it can also be most uncomfortable or even distressing. Things are not always clear, but His sovereignty is immutable and holds sway whatever else seems to be shifting. And, knowing that none may pluck me out of His hand has comforted me through deep, dark valleys, each one unique and precious. It sure is hard, sometimes, to see those times as precious when going through them, though. But He knoweth the way I take (in fact, He decreed it from the beginning!): when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold...especially since it is Him who worketh in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Sure do appreciate the abundant sources of encouragement you have made available here, Michelle. God bless you, as He has, and is, and will continue to. One of my heart's desires, and prayers, is that you would be encouraged and edified, even as you do for so many. In Him, Lisa

Verse of the Day

he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.” — Luke 2:28-32 (NKJV)
