• “Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off your relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin to you.” – Susanna Wesley

Angels Encamp by Nancy Leigh DeMoss 07/28/11

“When I was little, I’d roam all over the neighborhood. But now, with my kids, they stay in the backyard. I mean, there are just too many crazy people out there today.”

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: We need to make wise choices and keep children safe, but we don’t have to live in constant fear.

Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him.” That word “encamp” reminds me of the story of Elisha. The Syrian army had been deployed to capture him, but he wasn’t afraid. You see, God enabled Elisha to see the spiritual reality—the hills surrounding him were filled with an angelic army.

The dangers children face today are real, just like that enemy army. But we can live in peace knowing that an invisible host of angels surrounds them. The only way evil can get to them is by God’s permission. And the best way we can protect them is to pray.

  • ”As we grow spiritually, God begins to wean us from things that we think we can’t live without: things, comfort, the longing for life to ‘work.’ That’s a childish instinct, to say, ‘Life has to work the way I want it to work, and now’.” – Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Verse of the Day

[The Way, the Truth, and the Life] “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. — John 14:1-3 (NKJV)
