• “Lead me, Lord, to the Rock that is higher than I. Let me hear your word, give me grace to obey, to build steadily, stone upon stone, day by day, to do what You say. Establish my heart where floods have no power to overwhelm, for Christ’s sake. Amen.” – Elisabeth Elliot

More Than a Method by Nancy Leigh DeMoss 02/07/12

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: It might seem like there’s a point at which forgiveness is impossible—until we look at Jesus.

He was despised and hated, ridiculed, humiliated, betrayed, and beaten. What was His response to this kind of treatment? He said, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

If Jesus could offer forgiveness to those who were crucifying Him, you and I should be able to offer forgiveness to those who wrong us—no matter how painful.

The good news is that we don’t have to do it alone. The same One who offered forgiveness on the cross can live through us and give us His ability to forgive.

“To be a Christian,” C. S. Lewis said, “means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in us.”

When it comes to forgiveness, our Lord would not command us to do something that He would not enable us to do, or that He hasn’t done Himself.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

  • “My soul was filled and overwhelmed with light, and love, and joy in the Holy Ghost, and seemed just ready to go away from the body. I could scarcely refrain from expressing my joy aloud, in the midst of the service. I had in the mean time, an overwhelming sense of the glory of God, as the Great Eternal All, and of the happiness of having my own will entirely subdued to his will. I knew that the foretaste of glory, which I then had in my soul, came from him, that I certainly should go to him, and should, as it were, drop into the Divine Being, and be swallowed up in God.” – Sarah Edwards, wife of Jonathan Edwards

Verse of the Day

Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. — Amos 5:14-15 (NKJV)
