• ”As we grow spiritually, God begins to wean us from things that we think we can’t live without: things, comfort, the longing for life to ‘work.’ That’s a childish instinct, to say, ‘Life has to work the way I want it to work, and now’.” – Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Prayers Ancient and Modern 03/14

Teach me, O Father, how to ask Thee each moment, silently, for Thy help. If 1 fail, teach me at once to ;isk Thee to forgive me. If 1 ;!m disquieted, enable me, by Thy grace, quickly to turn to Thee. May nothing this day come between me and Thee, May I will, do, and say, just what Thou, my loving and tender Father, wiliest me to will, do, and say. Work Thy holy will in me and through me this day. Protect me, guide me, bless me, within and without, that I may do something this day for love of Thee; something which shall please Thee; and that I may, this evening, be nearer to Thee, though I see it not. nor know it. Lead me, 0 Lord, in a straight way unto Thyself, and keep me in Thy grace unto the end—Amen.

  • “But the misfortune is that people wish to direct God instead of resigning themselves to be directed by Him. We wish to take the lead, and to follow in a way of their own selection instead of submissively and passively following where God sees fit to conduct them. And hence it is, that many souls who are called to the enjoyment of God himself and mot merely to the gifts of God, spend all their lives in pursuing and in feeding on little consolations.” – Madame Guyon
