• “Sin is more dangerous than wild bears, more deadly than blazing forest fires. Ask Nebuchadnezzar, who lost his mind because he refused to deal with his pride. Ask Samson, who was reduced to a pathetic shred of a man because he never got control over the lusts of his flesh. Ask Achan and Ananias and Sapphira, who all lost their lives over “small,” secret sins.” – Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Set Apart

‘Know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for Himself.’—Ps. iv. 3.

I.
SET apart for Jesus! Is not this enough, Though the desert prospect Open wild and rough? Set apart for His delight,
Chosen for His holy pleasure, Sealed to be His special treasure ! Could we choose a nobler joy?—and would we if we might ?
II.
Set apart to serve Him !
Ministers of light, Standing in His presence, Ready day or night! Chosen for the service blest,
He would have us always willing. Like the angel host fulfilling Swiftly and rejoicingly each recognized behest.
III.
Set apart to praise Him,
Set apart for this ! Have the blessed angels Any truer bliss ? Soft the prelude, though so clear : Isolated tones are trembling ; But the chosen choir, assembling, Soon shall sing together, while the universe shall hear.
IV.
Set apart to love Him,
And His love to know ! Not to waste affection On a passing show. Called to give Him life and heart.
Called to pour the hidden treasure. That none other claims to measure. Into His beloved hand ! thrice blessed ‘set apart !’
V.
Set apart for ever
For Himself alone! Now we see our calling. Gloriously shown. Owning, with no secret dread, This our holy separation, Now the crown of consecration Of the Lord our God shall rest upon our willing head !

  • “I henceforth take Jesus Christ to be mine. I promise to receive Him as a husband to me. And I give myself to Him, unworthy though I am, to be His spouse. I ask of Him, in this marriage of spirit with spirit, that I may be of the same mind with Him — meek, pure, nothing in myself, and united in God’s will. And, pledged as I am to be His, I accept as part of my marriage portion, the temptations and sorrows, the crosses and the contempt which fell to Him. — Jeanne M.B. de la Mothe Guyon, Sealed with her ring.”
